I work with children, adolescents, and young adults, with emotional or behavioral difficulties. The issues I see most in my practice are: anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and family relationship difficulties. I work primarily from a strengths-based, cognitive -behavioral approach, using psycho-education, coping skills training, and positive psychology. With adult clients, I explore the impact their family of origin has had -- good and bad---and help them develop healthy habits in response to those issues. Always, I feel the relationship between client and counselor is part of the healing. I have experience counseling young people in a variety of settings: in the family home, through the court system, in community mental health and in public schools. This gives me a unique perspective on the array of factors that can support or stress one's healthy development. I am comfortable in person or using telehealth sessions when needed. I begin with compassion when meeting clients of all ages. With children, I use art activities, therapeutic games, and discussions to build trust and work toward therapy goals. Parents are my strongest resource for information about their children and I enjoy collaborating with them. With adults, your goals lead our way.
