I work closely and collaboratively with individuals and couples to move them beyond old, repetitive and unhappy patterns that hinder growth and freedom. Change happens in a deeply personal way, and never without trepidation. Effective therapy is a mutual undertaking in which fears, anxieties and deeply held beliefs are discovered and shifted. Depressive feelings, anxiety, unhappy work or personal relationships are often the result of unknown roadblocks we erect to protect us at a cost. Therapy provides a private and safe venue for discovering the reasons why life can feel flat, meaningless or frightening and can be the catalyst for profound movement and growth. I am a Clinical Psychologist specializing in individual and couples therapy. I am also a Certified Psychoanalyst with a psychoanalytic practice. I teach psychoanalytic theory and technique and supervise psychiatric residents and mental health professionals. My strength as a clinician is my emphasis on working collaboratively with individuals and couples to ensure our work together feels effective and progressive. Therapy requires commitment, trust and honesty from all parties to ensure that the hard earned changes that are possible in therapy occur.
