The possibilities for change, healing, and well-being often aren't trusted if you are dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or difficult circumstances. My goal is to provide support and safety for you to explore and understand problems with emotions, relationships, and painful past and present experiences. It is possible to come to terms with difficult issues, accept (not like) these human experiences, and move through them to change. I help clients identify negative thinking, unsuccessful behavioral patterns, and negative relationship "dances". I use psychodynamic therapy to help you understand parts of yourself that may be in conflict, such as desiring change, but being fearful that it isn't possible. I help people build tolerance for dealing with negative emotions in order to heal. In working with couples, I focus on the research based approaches of John Gottman and Emotionally Focused Therapy. These approaches help couples feel safe in expressing their emotional needs and fears. This builds trust that our partner "has our back". You don't have to do this alone!
