While working with clients, I utilize an active, flexible, strength based approach incorporating both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic techniques. My goals are to enable clients to utilize therapy to make important and lasting changes. I provide a confidential, safe and respectful space to work on issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, grief and bereavement and communication. Therapy is a place to both heal and grow and I work in collaboration with clients to facilitate that process. I have advanced training in interpersonal and relational issues. When beginning therapy, I address current symptoms and finding relief for emotional pain. The focus then evolves toward the develoment of insight and self awareness. Awareness is the keystone to change and allows clients to choose a new path. Change includes increased understanding and making new choices. I have extensive experience with individuals at both ends of the life spectrum; adolescents and the elderly. I utilize the practice of Mindfulness as an undercurrent of my work. I have advanced training in grief and bereavement issues as well as anxiety reduction. I have extensive experience with substance abuse recovery and managing chronic pain.
