Dr. Sauer has been a licensed psychologist since 1985. In his offices in Irving and Plano he sees children, adolescents and adults. A cognitive behavioral approach is taken in therapy with an emphasis on how thinking relates to feelings and problem-solving around daily changes that will lead to greater satisfaction and stronger self-esteem. Children and adolescent work includes working with the family, and adult work often involves couples working on communication and relationship facilitation. Some psychological assessment is usually part of the first few visits. This is particularly helpful answering questions about what's going on--whether there might be depression, attention deficit disorder or anxiety and how these interrelate and impact daily life. If a referral for medication is being considered then this evaluation can inform that discussion. Evening and weekend hours are available. Dr. Sauer is in network for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare. Calling the office and being contacted back by Dr. Sauer starts the process so there's an initial discussion of any questions before an appointment is made.
