You are already enough. Let that declaration sink in. In life, it is often easy to lose track of our accomplishments. Therapy should be intended as a way to celebrate our values. I invite you to show up with a sense of optimism. When you explore and deliberate, do so with a sense of hope. From where I sit, you can rival your depression or anxiety. Consider that your counselor will always see you as promising and worthy. Let trust be the basis for our working relationship. Let steady, practiced connection be the basis for growth and change. I believe my queer identity, chronic fatigue syndrome, and firsthand experience with trauma have made me into a more resilient person. I like to think that these adversities lend a dose of authenticity to my practice.
