My clinical areas of specialization include: the treatment of neuro-psychological and developmental disorders, anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorders, and the management of emotional and behavioral dysregulation in children, adolescents, and adults. I utilize a range of strategies and techniques to address these problems including: structured family therapy, strategic therapy, interpersonal therapy, and cognitive behavior interventions. A large portion of my practice is devoted to helping families and couples resolve conflicts and relate in a more meaningful and positive manner. It is my belief that healthy family relationships are the basis of mental health and well being.
Over the years more of my practice has been devoted to helping parents understand, contain, and mediate children's emotional and behavioral dysregulation. This has led to my development of a model which facilitates collaborative co-parenting focused on more neutral and effective limit-setting strategies.
My approach to therapy draws on recent developments in neuro-cognitive science, and seeks to understand psychological distress from both the emotional and neuro-cognitive perspectives. It also involves active collaboration with health professionals to address the mental health needs of patients in a coordinated and integrated manner.
