Erik's approach to therapy is both warm and direct, believing that it his place to foster client's growth through understanding, compassion, and a focus on their strengths. During his studies and training, he has focused on individual identity development, feminist studies, systems theories of identity development, and cultural humility. His therapy is based heavily on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy's skills and Humanistic/Emotion Focused Therapy. As of June 2024, Erik has completed their training to become an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider. This course has influenced Erik and his practice significantly, helping them better understand the how neurobiological nature of ADHD impacts identity, mental health and interpersonal relationships. Other areas of interest for Erik are: The coming out experience; Exploring sexual & gender identities; Coping with structural and systemic challenges; Working through difficult family histories, family trauma.
