What do you look for in a therapist? What's important? Surprisingly, age, gender, years of training and theoretical orientation are not the primary factors correlated with the effectiveness of a therapist. So how do you choose someone? Is it by their picture? The best website? The one that's taking new clients? Finding the right person can be incredibly difficult. Research suggests that the most important factors in positive therapeutic outcomes are the therapeutic alliance, working together to set collaborative goals, and the therapist's ability to be empathetic, accepting and genuine. My clients describe me as someone that gets them, someone they can relate to, someone they trust and who's easy to talk to, someone warm and empathetic. I can bring humor into a tough conversation and support you in your time of need. Choosing a therapist is a challenge, and a good fit is incredibly important. I invite you to contact me so that we can talk in person or over the phone and really get a sense of each other. You don't have to do it alone - I can help.
