My passion in this work is to connect deeply with clients. Research tells us that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in positive outcomes in therapy, and I devote my attention to cultivating this relationship with empathy, authenticity, and compassion. I believe that you, the client, are the expert of your experience, and my role as therapist is to provide a quality of relationship that allows you to safely explore who you truly are, without judgement. I provide an emotion-focused, mindfulness-based, and integrative psychotherapy to adults of any background. I am particularly interested in issues of self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, and addiction. I have a PhD in Chinese literature from Yale University and bring my understanding of East Asia and the humanities to my practice. I came to this work in the footsteps of my mother, a longtime therapist. When she passed, I returned to Maine from an academic career in Chinese language and literature. I often wished to more deeply understand the energy of connection within language. In the spirit of my mother's memory, I embarked on this exploration of the power of human connection.
