My name is Edmore (Ed) Mangena, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alaska. I have practiced in Alaska since 2006 and I have worked with all ages, children and families, individuals, and couples. I use an integrated approach to therapy that is anchored in Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I use person centered therapy for its emphasis on relationship and existential therapy for its supportive approach. I believe providing clients with a supportive non-judgmental space enables them to workout their issues to resolution or to clarity. I work with adolescents and adults mostly dealing with general psychopathologies and mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and traumatic stress issues. I like working with couples struggling with marital issues or relationships in general. I also work with clients struggling with substance use issues. I have worked as an educator and as a spiritual guide, and I still do. I am fascinated by human transformation and growth. So I went to school to pursue a Masters in Community Mental Health Counseling and started practicing in 2005. Helping people understand themselves and find solutions for their problems is what thrills me.
