When presented with problems we generally try to solve them as best we can with the tools available to us. Usually we're able to do so. However, sometimes this universal human instinct to problem-solve also creates the conditions of our own misery. In trying to "think positive” or "be happy" or "stop worrying," what we're really looking for is control. Yet the more we cling onto this control, the less effective it becomes over time. Not only do we feel worse than before, our lives become smaller and smaller until we feel trapped in a prison of our own creation. If therapy hasn't worked well before, I can offer a fresh perspective. I specialize in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients with a wide variety of issues find more fulfillment and joy in their lives through focusing on creating meaning and purpose. In particular, I find this approach works best in anxiety, panic, trauma, depression, and life transitions such as becoming a parent or grief and loss. I hope I get the opportunity to hear your unique story and support your journey of finding your place in this chaotic universe we share. If you feel my perspective may be beneficial for what you're currently going through, please reach out to schedule a free consultation. I'd also be happy to discuss any additional questions you may have at that time.
