People tend naturally toward psychological health. But life isn't perfect. Every one of us has a story. Every story deserves to be heard. And even the most painful stories, carefully heard, can source immense vitality and meaning. By taking the courageous step to begin or resume therapy, you are giving yourself an opportunity to grow in ways that are otherwise unreachable. Being a person isn't easy, and there does not have to be anything "wrong" with you for you to benefit from therapy. My patients work through any number of difficulties, from anxiety, loneliness, emptiness, grief, to relationship difficulties, discontent, and creative blocks, or a sense of stagnation, or even just curiosity to know themselves more deeply. What you have to gain from therapy is not only relief from symptoms, but an experience of yourself that is solid, true, resilient, and realistic. You don't have to change who you are to feel more like yourself.
