My name is Deborah L. Brown, Ph.D. I am a licensed psychologist in the state of California. I earned my doctorate from the University of Southern California and have over 25 years of experience treating clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of presenting concerns. I have had a private practice for over 17 years. In addition, I have worked with students in university counseling centers conducting short-term dynamic therapy. I have also worked with the Los Angeles Superior Court conducting child custody evaluations and mediating child custody conflicts. I have been a training director and supervisor and taught graduate psychology courses. My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in relational, dynamic, attachment, and mindfulness theories. You can describe my communication style as warm, welcoming, curious, supportive, energetic, containing, accepting, secure, relational, and productive. My first question to clients is always, "What brings you into therapy at this time?" I work collaboratively with clients to set the goals and objectives of therapy. We regularly return to review the goals and openly track progress.
