About

I provide psychological assessment and psychotherapy services. Though I understand the value of "diagnosing" a person's particular problem, I'm definitely against labeling a person as such. A person's difficulties--you name it: anxiety, trauma, depression--is what it means in part to be human. Everyone has some type of challenge, to various degrees (and certainly, some more than others). What a client requires, in many cases, is adequate resolution about negative things that has happened to him or her in life. Also, clients often need new skills in dealing with life's current and future expected challenges.

I work mainly with young, middle-age, and older adults. I really appreciate helping others. I tend to integrate cognitive-behavioral, family systems, psychodynamic, and humanistic/existential psychology orientations. It is very important to me to emphasize a collaborative treatment model in helping clients move toward and have meaningful lives.

I'm trained in "Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing" (EMDR--for trauma, anxiety, among other issues). This treatment has strong research backing which is readily accessible via a google search.
