About

I've been practicing psychotherapy for over 20 years, working with adults from all walks of life who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, relationship and family problems, vocational difficulties, and/or simply finding their way in life in difficult times. I love my work and find it an honor to be a part of someone's passage towards greater insight, stability and flourishing. I received my PhD from the University of Chicago and trained at the Center for Religion & Psychotherapy, where I have been the Director of Education as well as a faculty and staff person.

Special interests include working with people who, for reasons of race, class, gender or sexual orientation, may find themselves on the margins of the social mainstream; those engaged in creative and/or intellectual pursuits; and those dealing with the spiritual/religious dimension--for better and for worse--of emotional distress.

As an independent scholar, I have made contributions to the literature on psychoanalysis and race and psychoanalysis and religion: see www.celiabrickman.com
