My approach to therapy is practical, result-oriented, and emphasizes empowerment through the building of insight and self-awareness. In an atmosphere of trust and collaboration, I will work with you to understand the meaning of your symptoms and rediscover your capacity to make meaningful choices that are right for you. I focus not only on the person and their family history, but also the context in which a dysfunction is developed and the purpose it serves, despite appearing irrational, destructive, painful. I draw from various theoretical orientations in order to tailor my therapeutic interventions to the patient's needs and goals. I have worked in a variety of settings, but my most specialized training is in the treatment of eating disorders and addictions. Due to my background and graduate level training in diversity and multiculturalism, I enjoy working with people of all different backgrounds.
