My training and experience make me a good fit for both adolescents and adults seeking services for anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders; grief and loss; adjustment disorders; co-dependent behavior; substance abuse and recovery; relational concerns; life transition;and a variety of personal growth issues that may draw an individual, couple or family to counseling. I have provided services to children, adolescents, and their families in a school based setting, to adults in an inpatient facility, to professionals in recovery, college students, military, and employees seeking therapy for professional and personal matters through an employee assistance program. I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy; acceptance and commitment therapy for anxiety disorders; motivational interviewing; solution focused therapy; dialectical behavioral therapy; and systems theory. I am particularly interested in mindfulness and values-based behavior change strategies and find these strategies to be very effective. I acknowledge that the client is the expert on their own experiences, their personal values, spiritual beliefs and life goals. I believe that assessing these areas is crucial to the success of therapy and I look forward to learning more about what that means for you.
