I am a genuine listener who engages others by getting to know them, while exploring needs and goals. I believe that problem-solving begins with discovery of our inner strengths which can be used to foster healing and growth. As one begins to identify these resources and learns to use them, she/he is empowered to make changes and gain understanding about self and others previously thought impossible. While work in therapy can be difficult at times, it does not always have to be "serious business". Many people do not know how to have fun and learning this skill is always healing. My professional background and training is rooted in family systems theory and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I use a variety of approaches, based on the client's needs, including some cognitive/behavioral and client-centered work. My strengths are my ability to listen and attune, while guiding clients toward reaching their goals. I see myself as unique in my ability to relate to people in most age groups. I am mature (OK, oldish), yet have a youthful energy and optimism about human potential. My work with adoption issues is a distinguishing factor in my practice, as is my several decades of experience!
