Therapists » Marriage & Family Therapist
I originally built my practice based on a specialty in self-injury, which is the population I served for almost two decades. I developed a unique approach that relied on working with self-injurers and their families together, because I have learned that it is in the family where I am able to make the most effective change. I have since become almost primarily a family therapist, with a focus on high-conflict families. A family has the impossible task of creating a safe and nurturing home for its members while simultaneously facing work stress, academic pressure, global pandemics, natural disasters, unexpected catastrophes, and death and loss. No wonder families have so many problems. Many devolve into arguing, fighting, estrangement, or worse, divorce and collapse. This is where I help. While family members may lose sight of love and connection, I never do. Through our talks, members are able to revisit old wounds and heal them. They slowly rebuild their bonds and deepen their relationships as they learn to accept one another anew. Most importantly, they find new ways to connect and resolve disagreements peacefully.
