While many of the things life throws at us can be challenging and painful, they can also become a catalyst to showcase our strengths, resiliency, and opportunity for growth. I feel that our experiences, both positive and negative, help shape who we are, and make us unique. Through counseling, developing a better understanding of our histories, along with the connection to this and current functioning in various aspects of our lives; we can greatly enhance insight into ourselves as to why we do what we do. In those times of hardship and struggle, having a counselor who is supportive, motivating, and nonjudgmental can make a world of difference. I work with older adolescents and adults; addressing behavioral issues, mood, anxiety disorders, and life transition issues. I utilize evidenced based interventions including CBT, MI, Solution Focused Therapy, and EMDR In order for the therapeutic process to be effective and beneficial, the client-counselor relationship is paramount. I understand that initialing counseling can be a somewhat unnerving . Because of this, I strive to build a friendly, yet professional rapport with my clients in order to maintain an approachable and mutual comfort level for all involved.
