I am trained to listen deeply, assess the cause of symptoms, and assist in developing strategies to reduce suffering. I have experience helping people cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic health issues, acculturation/adaptation issues, and couple/family relationship problems. I am African American, a licensed clinical psychologist, born in Kenya, and raised in the Bay Area. My approach is eclectic utilizing combinations of relational, Afro-centric, person-centered, narrative, and trauma informed techniques. I also utilize evidence based techniques such as cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, and stress management. My people are nomadic and come from an oral tradition. They sit together under a tree sharing stories and poetry. I believe that it is in the sharing of stories that healing occurs. We will sit together “under a tree” to explore what ails you. We will work together to find solutions that are personal to you. Together we will find your path towards healing.
